Full Text

Dastardly.—About half-past ten o'clock Saturday night, some drunken rowdies got on a street car going south. They commenced making a noise and using language unbecoming gentlemen, and were politely requested by the conductor, Mr. Beshore, to desist. They gave no heed to the request but grew more boisterous. Mr. Beshore then remarked he would have to put them off the car, unless they conducted themselves properly. He was promptly informed he could not do it. The conductor made the effort and succeeded although in the melee he received a very black eye.

The car went on to the end of the route, and when returning North, was assailed near Caldwell's run. Several stones were thrown through the windows, but fortunately none of the passengers were hurt. The conductor and one of the passengers fired their revolvers at the crowd, with what effect is not known.

We trust efforts will be made to bring these parties to justice. It is time such fellows were taught that decent people have some rights they are bound to respect.
