At the State Normal Institute were found workmen engaged in making greatly needed enlargement of the buildings connected with this very popular institution. Even this spreading out will be entirely inadequate to the demands that will soon be made upon this school. The last Legislature deserves credit for the aid it gave the Normal, but it could have made a larger investment with great profit to the State. South Carolina is making arrangements for a similar Institute, to be located at Rock Hill, which will open this Fall, and up to this time--before its doors have been opened--has spent more for buildings and equipment than the entire cost of our Normal School has been after three years' existence.

Our State Normal for our young women is one of the State's most important institutions and should at all times receive its fostering care and be provided with the needed facilities for the thorough accomplishment of the great work it has in hand.
