Full Text

The Amour of a certain Admiral's Lady was discovered by the following Accident. Her Ladyship met her Gallant at a noted Bagnio not a Mile from Charing Cross. Before they retired to the Bedchamber they had been raising their Spirits, in another Room, with a Glass of Champaigne. Presently after a Gentleman was shown into the same Room the Lovers had just gone out of, where he found a Handkerchief of the Lady's, which she had unfortunately left behind her, with the Name upon it at full Length, done with the new invented Types and Liquor. The Gentleman happened to be an intimate Friend of the Admiral's; and calling up the Waiter enquired where the Lady was who had left that Handkerchief there. The Waiter hesitated; but the Gentleman peremptorily insisting on the Information, the Fellow told him in what Room she was. The Gentleman went, burst the Door open, satisfied himself in the Truth, and immediately departed to give the injured Husband the disagreeable News. What followed the World has been acquainted with.
