The Whig Convention of the Richmond District which nominated Mr. Botts as the whig candidate for Congress, published an address in favor of Union men and Union measures, and adopted the following resolutions

"Regarding the Union of the States as the most precious legacy bequeathed us by our fathers, and believing that the passage of the Compromise bills and the strict observance of their provisions will conduce greatly to perpetuate that Union; therefore,

Resolved, that we cordially approve of the series of measures known as the Compromise bills, and that we look for the faithful observance thereof by all the States of the Union.

Resolved, that we have seen with pleasure the manly course of our administration upon these measures."
