At long last there is a revulsion of feeling against what is generally admitted to be the most damnable, most complicated and most asinine complexity ever forced upon the American people -the federal income tax form.
The Dayton Chamber of Commerce, through its committee on taxation, has suggested a simplification of the tax form which not one person in a million can decipher. The chamber has announced that it will ask other commercial organizations to join in a national crusade to compel congress to simplify the form.
"The American people, quite accustomed to all sorts of taxes, do not object to paying heavy taxes for the conduct of the war," said a chamber official to The Press. "But it is inconceivable how such a crazy patchwork of obscure meaning and complications should be evolved and forced upon the taxpayers."
