Mr. Wm. H. Lambert, formerly principal of the high school in this city, gave his lecture on the Life and Works of Charles Dickens, at Granite Hall last evening. He traced his wonderful career from an obscure and humble beginning to the position of the greatest novelist in the world, analyzed his style which had captivated so many hearts, and gave glimpses of his character which revealed the source of his wonderful power and genius. The lecture was a finished and scholarly production, delivered in fine style, and the only regret is that it was not listened to by a larger audience.
