The Sailor's Prayer.
Eternal cause, and sole support
Of Nature's vast domain,
Our hope, and only sure resort
In peril, and in pain;
From storms and squalls, and dangers dire,
That lurk beneath the swan,
From sickness, famine, and from fire
Our gallant vessel save.
And grant us, on our way, before
Propitious gales to run;
Bless too the souls of our friends ashore,
But, Lord—"thy will be done."
