City Council.

An adjourned meeting of the city council was held last evening, and bids were received for 100 cords of wood. O. Duclos made the lowest bid, offering to supply white and red oak mixed wood for $2.72 per cord.

Chief Lafond, as a delegate from the firemen, asked that the department be given the use of the hall in the city building for a gymnasium. The request was granted, and the supply committee was authorized to fix the hall up.

The application of P. H. Gross for Opera House license was rejected.
