BRITAIN, FRANCE OBJECT TO U. S. CEASE FIRE ORDER

LONDON — (INS) Britain and France rejected the United Nations 'cease-fire call Saturday and sent bombers and jet fighters against Egyptian military and port defenses. An Anglo-French invasion of Egypt appeared imminent.

A British official said privately tonight that he believed the British and French troops would go ashore "within a few hours" and certainly sometime during the weekend.

The evening communique said allied bombers destroyed or damaged tanks, communication facilities, railroads and military installations in raids on targets and Egyptian troops convoys in or near the Suez Canal zone.

The communique made no mention of any landings and denied a report transmitted by Beirut radio that Anglo-French naval units attacked Suez at the Southern en-

trance to the Canal and that several British ships were sunk or damaged.

The Anglo-French allies faced a possible new crisis, Iraq and Syria sent troops into Jordan to bulwark that Arab neighbor of Israel. Reports from Amman said that Young King Hussein was demanding that the government declare war on Israel.

Britain is bound by treaty to go to Jordan's aid if she is attacked.

Israel has said she will not war against any Arab state except Egypt in the current crisis but the dispatch of Syrian and Iraqis into Jordan could, it was believed, lead to a full-scale Arab-Israeli war.

Planes of British and French air forces and navies hammered during the day at Egyptian ground installations, switching their main attack from air bases because, a communique said, the Egyptian air force had been all but wiped out in the four days of incessant Anglo French raids.

Afternoon Arabic language broadcasts by the voice of Britain radio warned Egyptian civilians that bombers were about to hit port facilities at Rashid near Alexandria and also military targets at Damanhour and Benha.

A security curtain was thrown over the present whereabouts of the two fleets which were reported officially two days ago to be approaching the entrance to the Suez Canal.

Communique issue by allied headquarters in Cyprus spoke only of air action and gave little detail.

The allied command admitted the loss of a Venom attack fighter-bomber in a raid on Cairo targets.

This was the first Anglo-French plane which the allies have admitted losing.

The allied command believe that most of the remaining Egyptian planes, including Mig jets and Ilyushin bombers supplied by Russia flew South to get away from the allied bombers.

But the Royal Air Force Canberra and Valiant jet bombers from Cyprus and Malta struck during the night at Luxor Airfield on the upper Nile, 400 miles South of Cairo.

Egyptian resistance to the relentless Israeli advance in the Sinai Desert seemed to have collapsed.

The Israelis said advance units were nearing Ismailia and Port Said and that a column in the far south had captured Villa Atur on the gulf of Suez.

The Israelis said they would obey the Anglo-French ultimatum to stop at a line 10 miles from the Canal itself.

Prime minister Sir Anthony Eden told the House of Commons in Tumultuous session that Britain and France would obey the U. N. General Assembly cease-fire call only on these conditions:

1. Egypt and Israel must stop fighting and agree to the establishment of a U. N. force to keep the peace.
