New-Orleans. Sept. 27.

We are informed that the United States brig Saranac, commanded by Lt. Elton, arrived at her anchoring ground near the bay of St. Louis, a few days ago : she has been down the Mexican Gulf, and Lieut. Elton had the pleasure of seeing the magnanimous fleet of The Dons that insulted Lieut. Cunningham ; but from prudential motives the Dons, who could out sail the Saranac, kept at a respectful distance--for three days did Lieut. Elton endeavor to get within hailing distance, but without avail.
