Full Text

ELIZABETH-TOWN, (N. J.) October.

Extract of a letter from Philadelphia, October 5.

"The malignant disease is undoubtedly abating. The number of those buried per day is diminished from sixty to thirty, and is still decreasing. There are about two hundred in the hospital, including thirty carried thither yesterday. Seven only were buried from thence yesterday. The number has frequently exceeded twenty. Great numbers are yet sick, but the majority recover. We have a tolerable market, and those who have money will want for nothing. Business is entirely at a stand. The banks are still open, but all the other public offices are shut, and the officers and clerks out of town."
