Richmond (Va.) District.

The candidates in this District for Congress, (Messrs. Botts and Caskie) have entered into the contest, with "right good will."

The contest is narrowed down principally to "Union and Disunion," and we were gratified at the able manner in which Mr. Botts defended the Union. The position of Virginia years ago is applicable at this time to this question. The Enquirer, which was the organ of Virginia at the time of the Hartford Convention, said, relative to one of the Northern States dissolving the Union, that only the power that established the government could peaceably dissolve it. So we think.
