Aug 2. (AP) Pangborn and Herndon arrived at Khabarovsk, Siberia, at 3:50 PM or 10:50 PM Pacific standard time, after a 1200-mile flight from Chita, through heavy rains. They left Chita at 5:30 PM or 6:30 AM Pacific standard time. They were two hours and fifty-eight minutes behind Post and Gatty's time at Khabarovsk, but the latter two were mired in the mud there where they spent 26 and one half hours. Their next stop was Alaska.
ABANDON WORLD FLIGHT
NEW YORK. Aug. 3, (AP) A cable from Pangborn and Herndon to their representatives here said they had abandoned their present attempt to lower Post and Gatty's record, because they had damaged their plane. Reports are current they may attempt a Tokyo to Seattle non-stop flight.
