An interesting feature of the development of the Verde river district is the possibility of bringing water from the Colorado river through a short tunnel down the Verde river. Engineers have given considerable thought to this plan and some of the best of them have declared the plan not only feasible, but the least expensive of any gravity plan yet proposed to water the largest possible Arizona acreage by gravity.
It is not at all impossible that the waters of the Colorado will yet roll down the Verde past Phoenix and water by gravity all of the several millions of acres lying along the lower Gila river as far as Yuma, Wickenburg, Parker and Casa Grande.--Arizona Gazette.
