Extract of a letter from Port au-Prince, dated Sept. 28

We are at present in great confusion owing to a tremendous hurricane that took place on the night of the 18th. Every vessel in the harbor was either upset or driven on shore, but fortunately they are nearly all off without receiving much damage. Nearly one quarter of this town is blown down: and all the country as far as we have heard, is havoc and destruction. Markets for American produce very good, but the returns wretched. Flour 28 to 30 dollars per barrel.
