United Charities Brings Together Man With Big Heart, and Deserving Persons Who Need Help.
A well dressed woman called at the office of the United Charities Monday. asking food for herself and five small children. Her husband, an unskilled laborer, had been without work the greater part of the winter and spring. only working a day now and then. There was no food in the house at this time the mother asked for assistance. There was no time to find some one who would supply the need, and so it was met with a little emergency aid until this morning when a good friend made provision for them until the husband received his first pay from a job secured for him by the United Charities.
The United Charities brought together the man with a big heart and the family with a great need and then fitted the man into his proper place In Keokuk's industrial scheme. One dollar a year makes you a member of the United Charities and helps make possible the continuance of this work.
