FROM THE FEDERAL REPUBLICAN.
INTELLIGENCE BY THE HORNET

Extract of a letter to the Editors of the Federal Republican, dated Annapolis, November 9, 1810

By a letter from a respectable gentleman in Paris (received by the United States brig Hornet,) I have been informed, that on the 14th November Gen. Armstrong left Paris, and by the enclosure, it will appear, that the emperor by order, dated the 20th, directed the sale of American property in Antwerp, which had been transmitted from Amsterdam, as it was said; none of the captains and consignees had heard of it; having arrived in Paris on the 27th, from Amsterdam for the purpose of making private arrangements with the captors, who, invited them there, saying the French government would appropriate the whole for the use of government. The captains and Mr. Warden, the late consul, obliged to return to America in the Hornet. Mr. Warden has arrived in Annapolis; Mr. Russell has been appointed by Gen. Armstrong.

My correspondent states that he does not think the emperor has any intention to restore any of the American property which has been sequestered.

It is stated here, that Mr. Warden had no idea of returning to America, until a few days previous to his departure; that he has been displaced by Gen. Armstrong, from officiating in Paris, but was offered any situation he might choose, in any other part of France,

" I have not been able to obtain, from either Mr. Warden or capt. Hunt, any information respecting our situation with France, except in very general terms. The former gentleman does not appear disposed to communicate any information he may be in possession of."
