Carl Gage, manager of Kenai Scenic Bus Lines, announced a reduced fare for passenger and express service to Homer and way points.
To become effective Thursday, passenger fare to Homer will be reduced to $10 one way, $15 round trip, plus tax, which represents a total reduction of $9.36 on the round trip. Kenai and all way points fares are reduced on the same ratio.
Express rates have been set at one cent per pound or $1.00 per hundred pounds Seward to Kenai; 1 1/2 cents Seward-Ninilchik; and 2 cents Seward to Homer with a 50 cent minimum charge.
Time of the run has also been changed to the benefit of Peninsula residents. The bus will leave Seward on Mondays and Thursdays, leaving Homer on Tuesdays and Fridays for the return.
This will enable Homer and Peninsula visitors the week end in Seward for shopping and a Sunday visit, returning to Homer early Monday morning.
Waiting stations have been arranged for at Inlet Inn in Homer, the post office in Kasilof, Variety Store in Ninilchik, and two stations in Kenai: the Terminal Cafe and Kenai Joe's.
Mr. Gage stated today that he will be operating a daily bus line between Seward and Anchorage as soon as the highway is opened to traffic. He will operate at a straight 5 cents per mile over that route, the same as on the Peninsula service.
