DIVISION OF SYNOD.—The memorial of the Presbytery of Montgomery to the Synod, asking for a division of that venerable body, was published some time ago. Within the last two months several communications have appeared, in which the arguments on both sides have been ably presented. Having been requested by some to enter into the discussion of this question, we take occasion to say that it is not judged expedient to do so. While not unwilling to take a share in the consideration of all questions affecting the interests of our Church, there seems to be in the case no necessity—perhaps no propriety—in undertaking that task. Little or nothing could be added to what has been already so forcibly urged for and against the measure proposed, and so it may be safely left to the wisdom of the Synod to meet in Alexandria in November.
Since writing the above we are advised that another communication is on hand: this will appear next week.
