A CARD—FROM BALTIMORE.

The person to whom it was sent, has the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of a well designed caricature from an unknown hand at Washington, and very much regrets that it was not practicable to get it engraved and struck off in time, as it would undoubtedly have produced a very happy effect.

Such appeals reach at once, by the most ready medium through which it can be approached, the understanding of those who lack leisure for more laborious investigation.

The allusion to the "Hartford Convention" speaks volumes in a word, and the Daemon of discord brandishing aloft his blue light torch, is at once an apt and visible representation of the spirit and proceedings of the factious few, who keep up the false and violent excitement under which the far greater and better part of the Federal Party have been goaded to acts of extreme opposition so derogatory to the American character. On the other hand, the mild and conciliating aspect of the "Genius of Freedom" bearing the Pole and Cap of Liberty, justly indicates the "real" object of all genuine Republicans, and invites every one to join her standard on the first Monday of September next, if they desire to enjoy the inestimable blessings to be derived from the mildness of her laws and the wisdom and liberality of her institutions.
