VIRGIN SILVER
Detroit, Oct. 15.—Mr. Schoolcraft, who recently arrived here from the Saut de Ste Marie, has shown us a stone, apparently quartz and sand-stone, through which are interspersed veins of white malleable metal, which in respect to color, hardness and weight, resembles the purest silver. The stone was obtained from an Indian, who said that he picked it up on the shore of Lake Huron, near Pointe aux Barques. It weighs about a pound and a half, and from appearances, will yield two ounces of silver.
