Balloon. About 17,000 people assembled in and about Castle Garden, New York, on Thursday last, to witness the ascent of Mr. Robertson. The balloon ascended in a handsome manner, but was carried by the wind against the top of the flag staff, eighty feet above the battlements. A hole was broken through the silk, and the gas began to escape. Mr. Robertson continued in this dangerous position for fifteen minutes, amidst the unavailing anxiety of the multitude for his safety; but at length succeeded in seizing the halyards of the flag staff, on which he safely descended, without receiving much injury.
