DEAL IS CLOSED.
City to Become the Owner of Lots Wanted on West Walnut—Price, $800.

At last the city is the possessor of the coveted lots on West Walnut street. Not that the deeds have been formally made out, but the price is agreed on. It will be recalled that the city purchased three lots in the middle of the block from the Henkle estate for $125 each, but declined to buy the Babcock lots, on either side, because Big creek cut the western lots in two. It seems to have come about that the city fathers learned some one else was figuring on the lots, and Mr. Babcock making an offer of $800, it was taken.

It is the intention eventually to build a house for the engineer at the Avenue D pumping station and to transform this land into a small park. It will also enable the city to take the kinks out of Avenue D.
