Miss Freshman College Speaks

"Well I'm here at last, a freshman in college and free to make decisions of my own without the interference of mom and dad. Gee, what a big dormitory and just look at the girls. I wonder which one will be my room mate? I sure hope its not anyone from home because they go back and tell everything that happens and I sure don't want my folks to ha worrying about me. "Three room mates?" Gee, I guess its ok, but when I left home I thought I was going to have some privacy.

Well, I registered today and I sure will be busy this semester. That science teacher sure is cool, boy he's really what's happening, much more on the ball than my high school teacher. Old thing, gave me a C in science and I know I was better than Betty and he gave her a "B" gee, I hope I will be chosen as one of the majorettes, when I try out to- morrow, cause I know my legs look as good as some of the girls they had last year and I can step too; oh well, if I can't make that I will try out for the pep squad and they sure do look sharp in those white skirts and gold sweaters.

Golly Moses! just look at the kids in line for lunch, I wonder what we will have? It just can't possibly be as good as what mom fixes. Well, I didn't come out here looking for everything to be as it was at home. I guess you have to do without something if you want an education, but what girl in room 17. went back. She said she just couldn't stand it. I don't want to hurt my folks like that after they scrapped so hard to send me here. Say June, what is this stuff on this side of my plate? Asparagus. A vegetable? It sure doesn't look like any greens that mom cooks. It just don't look right. I don't think I want it. Boy these potatoes look super so I'll make out all right.

Gwen just look at that old high toned senior. she sure thinks she's cute and I can't for the life of me see how she won "Miss Sweet- heart" last year, I look better than she does. Do I look ok in my heels? Well when I get to be a senior. I bet I'll know how to dress. (tee hee) Is that one of the football fellows? Well I'm sure going to get me one for a steady and I hope he belongs to a junior or senior too.

The freshman girls are pretty and hope they take all the fel- lows. Just wait until we finish with our initiations, we'll show them.

I sure wish mom were here to finish unpacking my clothes. I wonder if mom will care if I call home collect? I guess I won't bother here, I'm a college girl now.
