Full Text

Fourth Congressional District.—The Whigs of this district have nominated Dr. Joshua Bowron, of Westchester county, for Congress. The tories expect to defeat his election by the aid of the imported voters that they have employed on the Croton Water Works. They openly boast, that they have two thousand of these men whose vote they can command, and who will be able to vote down the intelligent farmers and mechanics of that old and respectable county. We firmly believe from what we have heard of the character and spirits of the inhabitants of that district, that they will resent, in a proper manner, this gross attack upon their rights, and give their candidate a warm and enthusiastic support. Dr. Bowron, from having always resided in that district, is intimately acquainted with the wants of the people, and will make an able representative.—Courier.
