THREE-DIMENSIONAL MOVIES

People everywhere are discussing the new three-dimensional movies which are being made to counteract the harmful effects of television upon the movie making industry. Citizens of Atlanta will get their first view of this new impetus to the movie industry when the movie, "Bwana Devil," is shown at the local theaters here.

There are approximately fifteen (15) feature movies that have been scheduled for 1953 in three-dimension. With these will come excitement, novelty, headaches, and many misgivings.

In order to really appreciate the effect of three-dimensional movies, the movie-goer will have to be furnished with polaroid glasses by the theater and the individual will have to already have good stereopsis and depth perception.

There will be many individuals who will not be able to appreciate and enjoy the movies even with the use of the polaroid glasses. If you happen to be one of those individuals, here are some of the possible reasons: There is a possibility that you either have poor acuity in one or both eyes, suppressions, poor stereopsis, fusional difficulties, muscular anomalies, or aniseikonia.

If you experience difficulty in enjoying or appreciating "Cinerama," which is also a new movie gimmick in which a large curved screen is used a most unusual effect, then there is a possibility of field defects or pathology which might have gone unnoticed.

If any difficulty is experienced in enjoying or appreciating either of the above productions, you should see your vision specialist.
