OUR CANDIDATE FOR SHERIFF.—We copy the following from one of our Montana exchanges:
We learn from the Pioche (Nev.) Record that our old townsman, John Kane, the present sheriff of Lincoln county, carried the Pioche delegation in the Liberal Republican and Democratic primaries of Pioche, held September 8th. This gives him 26 out of 67 delegates in the entire county, and will probably secure his renomination for the office of sheriff. His many friends in Montana wish him entire success.
This notice shows the estimation in which Mr. Kane is held where he formerly resided. The good wishes sent him from distant Montana will be heartily endorsed by a majority of the voters of Lincoln, who will give Mr. Kane a substantial proof of their regard by re-electing him to the office, the duties of which he has so efficiently performed.
