While traveling thro' this selfish world, where few are found to care for another's troubles, it gives us peculiar pleasure to acknowledge an act of courtesy. We recently had the misfortune to lose a trunk, containing sundry valuable articles, at the Eastern Depot on our return from Maine. A week passed away, and all efforts to find it proved in vain. We then laid the case before the above named gentleman, expecting of course to see him look daggers at the bare mention of our loss; but in this we were most happily disappointed, for with courtesy (which we have since understood to be characteristic of the man) he at once promised to make immediate search, and if the trunk could not be found to do what was right. To make the story short, the trunk, which by accident had been left at East Boston, came to me the same day, accompanied by a very polite note from Mr. K. enclosing two tickets for Portsmouth for my trouble.
