Get-Better-Acquainted Tour of Hickory Business Men to Mountains Will Prove Largest Cooperative Outing Ever Undertaken Here

Band Will Take Trip Too

If the weather is propitious on Thursday the Get-Better-Acquainted tour by the business men of Hickory, Caldwell and Watauga counties will go to Blowing Rock and other points in the greatest undertaking of its kind and ever seen in this section. If successful, it will prove to be the greatest cooperative October outing held in Hickory, and unique in the history of trade events in this section.

Quite a number of ladies will attend the trip.

The Hickory Concert Band will go along to furnish music during the bus picnic dinner hour planned to take place on the court house lawn at Boone at noontime; and several noteworthy addresses by good speakers both from Hickory and Watauga will be made.

Judging from all the firms who have already signified their intention to provide an automobile and participate in the tour, fully two hundred Hickoryites will leave from the Chamber of Commerce building at 8:30 Thursday morning. All those desirous of going, who do not have cars of their own are asked to telephone to the Chamber of Commerce, R. E. Martin at Whitener & Martin, or Geo. J. Beatty at once so that conveyance can be provided for them.

Up to this morning over fifty firms and individuals had placed their automobiles at the disposal of the Transportation Committee and will have their cars in line. There will be more or about one hundred more automobiles thus far assured, and the Hickoryites anxious to go who have not already arranged for conveyance on this trip should lose no time in doing so, as assigned to cars by members of the transportation committee.
