CONGRESSIONAL ELECTION.

On Monday last the inhabitants of this state assembled in their respective towns to give their suffrages for persons to represent them in the 13th Congress of the United States. To the friends of peace the result is highly gratifying.

From the information we have received, the success of the federal ticket in 13 districts is undoubted; and we have not heard of the probable election of a single war hawk. In this town the votes were—for John Reed, Esq. 406, for Thomas Hazard, jun. Esq. 21—and for the hon. Isaiah L. Green, who voted for the present execrable war) one.

Four towns in Essex North,—give Mr. Pickering footing—Little, 48 there are 10 other towns to be heard from— Mr. Pickering is undoubtedly elected.

Fifteen towns in Middlesex District Mr. Stearns, the peace candidate, 1268—Richardson, war advocate, 110. ten towns to be heard from.
