Full Text

The French Gazette, so long ago as the 7th instant, had an account that the inhabitants of New-York had come to the resolution of importing all sorts of merchandise from England, except those on which a duty is charged for the purpose of raising a revenue in America; so that the resolution that has lately been circulated by order of Government, seems to be little more than an ineffectual attempt of some interested persons in that city to break through the general agreement of the Provinces. It is, however, suspected, that many private entries will be made, that it will not be in the power of the Patriots of that country to maintain their engagements for any length of time, whatever effect those engagements might have had, if faithfully adhered to the councils of the mother country.
