The observance, honoring the founder of the Eastern Star, has been held in Greensboro for over 40 years.
Lillington sent Mrs. Inez Harrington, worthy matron of the county seat chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Marjorie Taylor, chapter secretary, and Mrs. C. E. Sorrell. Miss Thelma Matthews. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Pulley. Mrs. Prentice Sloan, and Mrs. K. G. Mace.
Dunn representatives were headed by Hugh Prince, associate worthy grand patron of the North Carolina Order of the Eastern Star. Others who attended were: Mrs. Paul L. Strickland, worthy matron, Mrs. U. J. Rice, past matron, Miss Lillian Draughn and Mr. Prince.
Going from Erwin were Mrs. V. C. Swanson and others.
Mrs. Maude B. Foy of Kinston, worthy grand matron and Arnold Kincaid of Kings Mountain, worthy grand patron of the Eastern Star spoke at the opening session.
They outlined the principles of the order and sketched the history of Rob Morris and of the order he founded.
A picnic on the grounds followed the talks. Later residents and visitors heard a concert by the Greensboro Shrine Club's Oriental Band. A tour by visitors of the main building and infirmary concluded the day's activities.
