Full Text

April 23. There is Advice from Paris by Yesterday's Mail, that they are extremely surprised at what has been published in other Countries, relating to the Island of St. Lucia, as if the Most Christian King had caused it to be declared to the English Commissaries, that he relinquished his Right to that Island, and consented that it should be declared neuter, and evacuated it upon that Footing. These Advices add, that whoever represented the Thing in that Light, were by no Means acquainted with the incontestable Right of his Most Christian Majesty to the Island of St. Lucia: that his Majesty did indeed, in Consideration of the good Understanding which subsists between him and the British Court, consent that that Island should be evacuated, but that this was only meant provisionally, and 'til such Time as the respective Commissaries should agree about the Property of it.
