PHILADELPHIA CONFERENCE.

The Philadelphia Conference, says the Christian Repository, of the 5th inst., commenced its session in the Trinity Church on the morning of the 5th inst. Bishop Hedding presides assisted by Bishop Morris. The preachers are generally in good health, and come to conference with hearts full of zeal for their work. From all quarters we hear that the Lord has blessed the labour of his servants. Business is progressing harmoniously and rapidly.

The intelligence of the death of Bishop Roberts was communicated to the Conference on Thursday morning. Upon which, on motion of the Rev. D. Dailey, seconded by the Rev. J. Kennedy, the following preamble and resolutions were adopted.

Whereas, this Conference have received, thro' Bishop Morris, the painful intelligence of the death of the venerable Robert R. Roberts, senior Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, for whose memory they entertain the most profound respect in view of his eminent piety as a Christian, and long, laborious and distinguished official services in the Church; all rendered the more endearing by his former relation as a member of this conference.

Therefore,

Resolved, That one of the Bishops be requested to improve the occasion by preaching a funeral discourse at such time as they shall deem proper during the present conference.

Resolved, That the funeral services be performed in the St. George's M. E. Church, and that the Conference will proceed in a body to that place at the time which may be appointed.

Resolved, That as an expression of our respect this conference now adjourn.
