Truman Disapproves
Pvt. Woods' Penalty

WASHINGTON. D C-(NNPA)

-The War Department announced last Tuesday that President Truman has disapproved the sentence given Private Lemas Woods, Jr. of Detroit, who was tried by General court martial in the Philippines and sentenced to death.

A rehearing will be given before another court martial to be appointed later.

In disapproving the sentence and authorizing another trial, the announcement said consideration was given evidence produced since the trial.
