ELM GROVE PICNIC.—One of the most enjoyable picnics of the season was held on the bank of the creek opposite Captain Askew's, last Saturday. The "Elm Grove Fishing Club" had been having a splendid excursion up the creek during several days before, and, by previous arrangement, were met upon their return at the grounds referred to by their wives and daughters and sweethearts and, in fact, by almost all the good people of the neighborhood. The club had been unusually successful and had landed bass enough to provision a small army, which, together with the good things supplied by the neighbors, made a feast fit for a King. Dancing, croquet, mirth, love-making, friendly gossip and politics were the amusements of the day and all seemed to enjoy the occasion to the fullest extent. Several comic songs, which were sung by brothers James and William O'Donnell, excited much merriment and were fondly applauded. The party dispersed just in time to escape the rain.
