The attendance was large. John G. Saxe, the poet, was nominated for Governor. Delegates were appointed to the Charleston Convention.
Resolutions were adopted in favor of non-intervention with slavery in the States, Territories or Districts; in favor of the compromise of 1850; in favor of a strict adherence to the doctrine of Popular Sovereignty; indorsing the Administration of James Buchanan; favoring the acquisition of Cuba, and hoping that the complication of European politics will aid in the acquisition of that island, without the sacrifice of the national honor.
The Douglas men, it is stated, were largely in the majority in the Convention. Vermont is Judge Douglas's native State.
