Madisonville has a municipal light plant and the financial exhibit for January 1st shows that the receipts from the plant by the city during 1908 were $11,395.86, while the operating expenses, including all extension work and labor of all kinds were $10,604.64. A net profit of $791.22 is better than a deficit of $6,500. The profit, small as it may appear, represents 4 per cent interest on $20,000, probably as much as the Madisonville plant cost.
