Missouri Matters.

A Jefferson City letter to the St. Louis Democrat, gives these interesting items:

"It is reported this morning from a semi-official source that a commissioner from the Confederate authorities was here, conferring with Gov. Jackson, and had proposed to furnish him thirty thousand men and fifty thousand stand of arms, on condition that he (Jackson) would pledge the State to secede this fall. Take this in connection with the fact that the Legislature is to be convened again in September, and it indicates an undercurrent of which the public are not correctly advised, at least, the signs of the times are ominous of some future event in the history of the Missouri rebellion.

It will also be remembered that Jackson in his farewell speeches to the departing troops, admonished them to drill and hold themselves in readiness to return at a moment's warning. The troops were permitted to take away with them all their arms and equipage, and most of them marched away under secession flags."
