HORN OFF DEER
Reno Franks Discovers Relic of
Historic Days As He Goes
In River to Swim,
Reno Franks, a farmer boy living
a few miles north of Aledo, found
what he at first thought to be a
cow's horn on the banks of the Edwards
river a few days ago. The
article proved to be one of the largest
deer horns ever found in this
community.
The antler is over 5 feet long and
has five prongs, some of which are
more than a foot in length.
The
relic of the days when the wild
deer roamed the plains of Mercer
county, was found buried in the
sand of the river bank.
The lad has placed the horn for
sale and will have it on exhibition
in some business house in Aledo
within a few days.
