Observer H. F. Alps of the Reno weather bureau of the department of agriculture has issued the following weather and crop report for the week ending November 8: The last week was unseasonably cold and light precipitation occurred over the greater part of the state. The mean temperature for the week was about 8 degrees below normal and the lowest temperature at a weather bureau station was 7 degrees at Winnemucca. The lowest temperature at Reno was 17 degrees. Moderately heavy snows fell on the Sierra Nevada mountains and all summit roads are closed to automobile traffic. Light snow fell in other mountainous regions. The precipitation in the agricultural districts was mostly in the form of rain. The cold, stormy weather was unfavorable for stock, although cattle and sheep on the winter range were reported to be doing well. Light snows on the desert range furnished ample water for sheep. Lamb shipping was nearly completed. Cattle and sheep on ranches are generally in fine condition. In the Rebel Creek district stock are in fair condition, crops are all harvested and rains improved pastures. In the extreme north portion of Elko county cattle are poor because of the shortage of fall feed. Cattle and sheep are doing well in the Ruby mountain district and ranch work is confined to weed hauling and the feeding of stock. In western counties cattle and sheep are doing well on alfalfa pasture and hay; potato digging is completed except at places in Lyon county. Alfalfa is still undamaged by frost in the Alamo district
