ROTC Headquarters at the University of Virginia has announced the acceptance of Jesse C. Green, Jr., of Powhatan, into the ROTC at the University.
Applicants were selected on the bases of scores made on military aptitude tests, interviews with officers of the unit, and on the results of a strict physical examination
Of the 250 applicants only 160 were accepted because the army has raised the requirements for entrance into the ROTC program

The unit was established at the university in 1948, and reached the peak enrollment of 650 during the Korean conflict. Present enrollment of the unit is 466
