Full Text
The Cemetery committee appointed by the Ladies Civic League reports that the work of cleaning up the cemetery is about finished. The tall weeds and sunflowers around the fence, both inside and outside, of the cemeteries have been mowed down: weeds and tall grass in the driveways and alleys have been cut and about 40 of the lots have been cleared. Were it not for the still uncared-for lots Mount Allen would present a fairly orderly appearance.
Some of the lots, especially in the older portions of the Protestant cemetery are covered with a dense growth of weeds from 2 to 5 ft. tall.
All of the lot owners that could be reached by mail or telephone were notified of the League's plan, but from 150 so notified less than 45 have responded by work or contributions, and so those uncared-for lots will continue to stand as a disfigurement of the whole,
The Committee.
