"You’ll doubtless hear by Letters of the terrible Desolation by Fire the last Week, whereby above three hundred Families, in four Hours, were turned out of their Habitations, and lost most of their Furniture, the Heavens Seem'd a meer Element of Fire, so that it look'd like the general Conflagration; the Poor wringing their Hands, and in the utmost Distress: And it was the most melancholy Scene I ever beheld, but the Subject is so shocking I can proceed no farther at this Time."
