FOUND DEAD WITH STRAP ENCIRCLING HIS NECK

Agnes Alland and Lizzie McGorry, two little girls, residing on Greenwich street, while going across lots, opposite the Merino Flats in Olneyville, about noon today were horrified to stumble on the body of a dead man.

As soon as they could they notified persons residing in the neighborhood. The men who first viewed the body thought it had been exposed to the elements about two weeks as the face was black as coal.

A strap such as is sometimes worn by a man about his waist was drawn tightly around the dead man's neck.

He had lain down and placed his black coat under his head for a pillow.

Before so doing he had taken off his shoes, which had been tapped, and blue woolen stockings.

By his side lay an empty bottle.

The dead man was apparently about 50 years old and weighed about 180 pounds.

His hair was dark and his moustache red.

He wore dark trousers and his coat was faded.

There was no hat found near the body.

One man who came by after the discovery of the body thought it was that of a Burrillville man, though the traveller, not being sure, would not say who he thought it was.

The body was hidden from view by bushes and scrub growths.

Medical Examiner Perkins was notified.
