On Saturday last an Irishman came into Murphy & Allen's carpenter shop in Canton and asked for work. He was a stranger in these parts and had a suspicious appearance. The proprietor, assuming to be a Democrat, began to question him, and finally the poor creature acknowledged he had been hired to come into this county and vote. Employment was offered him at Yates City, but he declined. Fulton was the place for him, and "be jabers" he would stay here until after election.
P. S.-Since writing the above, we learn that three more of the same sort were in town, on Saturday. One of them inquired for Mr. [name], a leading Douglas man of Liverpool.
An effort was made to induce them to leave the county, but without success.-- But, like the individual above mentioned, Fulton was the place for them, be jabers!
In Banner, a leading Democrat has started an extempore wood yard, on the river, and stocked it with some half dozen of them.
