More proofs of 'the Popularity' of the Tax Law.
The following letter [says the Ohio Statesman] from Preble county, affords additional evidence that the people are determined to repudiate Kelly's odious law, 'without distinction of party :'
Eaton, August 2, 1846.
Mr. Editor—The Coons held their county convention here yesterday, and nominated L. W. Whitridge, as a candidate for representative, who declared, in convention, if elected, he would go for a bill to put bank stock, state bonds, &c. on the tax lists, over Judge Curry, the present member, who declared himself in favor of the bank, tax, and black laws, as they now are, without altering a word or letter of them; thus you see the Coons of Preble have repudiated one of Kelly's tools, together with his laws—and that by a vote of 65 to 19.
