The primary ward meetings of the opponents of Andrew Jackson, held in Philadelphia on Monday evening, were more numerously attended, and conducted with greater spirit and unity, than they have been for many years. We hear from every ward, that the numbers and zeal of the citizens present on the occasion, far exceeded all calculations. A gentleman present, who has not omitted a primary meeting in the north ward for the last twenty years, declared that he never met so many of his fellow citizens on a similar occasion.
No Jackson ticket will be run in the city—the party dare not, they cannot rally. They cannot find citizens enough to fill the various offices who may be acknowledged capable, and will acknowledge themselves Jackson men, veto or no veto. The game is up with them.—U. S. Gaz.
