PIONEER IS HONORED - Sol. C. Johnson, editor of the Savannah Tribune, oldest Negro weekly in the nation and for more than 50 years grand secretary of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Masons in Georgia, was honored guest June 12 at a banquet at the Savannah USO. The affair was given by the Masons and citizens of Savannah. More than 200 attended and more than $600 in cash was given Mr. Johnson. He appointed a committee to take the money with a similar gift he already had on hand for the purpose of awarding it to worthy charity.
