HOME INTELLIGENCE.

[A numerous and respectable meeting of the freeholders of the county of York, was held at the house of Mr. Parker, in Gray's Inn, on Thursday last, to state a petition to his Majesty the King, that the charges of circumstances dropped by the House of Commons, by Mrs. Clarke, had been most refuted, and that the rest of them had been met to be contradicted. This day presented and the bad character house received no consolation from any. It likewise states that the measures taken against the Duke of York were to answer the purpose of party action in the Commons House of Parliament, were not, therefore, to be considered deciding the question of merit on the conduct of his Royal Highness. It concludes by praying that the Duke of York may be restored to the office of commander, asserting that his official industry and talent during the long time he held that important station, had proved him to be the most proper person to discharge the functions of it to the improvement of the service and to the satisfaction of the country. This petition, has, we understand, been signed by several general officers. With whom this application to the sensibility of the sovereign originated, is not publicly known.]
